Well I got the last two games correct, that’s something. Both Colts and Saints came out victories but not looking as dominant as I thought. So this weekend is the highlight of the USA sports calender its the SUPERBOWL, and I have nothing invested in the teams playing which are a shame.
Haven’t made up my mind yet on which team I will be cheering on come Sunday, I’m leaning toward the Colts at the moment as they have to win because they rested players earlier in the season and threw away the perfect season, but that has been debated to death. I will do my pick after I have listened to NFLRnR podcast where they actually go through the strengths and weakness of the two teams.
So my total score for the 2009 NFL season is as follows
Regular Season
178-78
Post Season
5 – 5
So I did pretty good in the regular season, a few awful weeks made me take a significant hit to my ratings. The Post season was awful only getting 50% of the games correct.
Don’t know whats with this week just read on facebook that another friends cat got run over tonight and probably wont make it. That’s just depressing as hell, had to play with Loki and give him some GBF (Good Boy Food) just because, and show him I love him. Update: They just found him in the snow, and he didn’t make it. My thoughts go out to all who have lost a beloved family member this week.
Ok now its the last NFL games before the Superbowl and no I’m not counting the Pro Bowl!
The picks for winners is Saint and Colts, those are my mind picks. Those teams will probably win as they are the better teams on paper and have home field advantage. My heart picks are Vikings and Jets as I like to see them in the Superbowl as they have a lot more storyline possibilities. You have the young rookie QB vs. the old timer who is old enough to be his dad. The last hurrah for Favre going out and being the oldest QB to win a Superbowl and all that. As the Vikings put a beating on the Cowboys It would be nice to have lost to a team that would eventually play in the Superbowl, but that’s just me. Jets got my attention early in the season with some good and exiting games, and having a very confident coach, some would say overconfident, haven’t deminised the feat of making it into the playoffs. Another thing is the Colts resting their players and all the talk about throwing games just because they didn’t want the Steelers in the playoffs that ultimately lead to the Jets making it in. This would be poetic justice that the team that they let make the playoffs just because they didn’t want the Steelers, or so people have been saying, would ultimately beat them and make it to the Superbowl. If that would to happen there will be mayor represcusions in the Colts staff, throwing away a perfect season and then not making the Superbowl, being knocked out by the team they let into the playoffs would be monumental.
Saints and Colts although they are rivals they haven’t connected with me at a level that would make me care either way who would win a Superbowl.
So Saints vs. Colts in the Superbowl, the boring and safe choice. I’m going to be cheering for the Vikings and Jets, as that’s where my heart lies at the moment as the Cowboys have been eliminated from the playoffs.
After the Minnesota blow out, handing the Cowboys a one way ticket to the post season this weekend. I’m not that upset as I thought I would be, go figure. As the Cowboys lost convincingly having no answers for the Minnesota at all the entire night, they where getting manhandled on both sides of the ball.If the game would have been really close and one play would have decided the game and Dallas would have lost I would have been upset.
Now I’m jumping on the JETS and VIKINGS bandwagon for a few weeks, hoping for them to meet in the Super Bowl all other constellations of teams will be a disappointment to me. The Vikings as I like Favre and then at least the Cowboys lost to a team that will play in the Super Bowl and the Jets because they are the underdogs with a rookie QB and head coach.
This past week I was looking at Cowboys gear at amazon and found out that the jerseys are hilariously expensive. And too make matters worse the UK amazon don’t carry the throwback jerseys at all. This is the only jersey that amazon.co.uk carry:

Maybe for next season I will sport a cowboys jersey, but I havent decided which players jersey I will sport. There are lots of Dallas players that are worthy of a jersey. Some old school numbers from my youth, the triplets ofc. (Emitte, Aikman and Irvin) and the tight end Novacek or “Moose” Johnson. And some of the never players Romo, Witten, Barber, Jones, Ware, Newman or Austin.
The teams I predict to go on to play in the championships games are:
Arizona
Indianapolis
Dallas
San Diego
I’m going to be blogging while I watch this game as I’m currently watching it alone, well not completely alone Loki is keeping me company, if you call sleeping in his house company.
First quarter
Dallas put together a good drive mixing up the plays but the penalties hurt them BAD. Two major penalties against Witten and a big sack kept the Dallas out of field goal range even though they where close to goal on the opening drive. Now lets see what the defence can do against the Eagles that they shut down last week.
Dallas stopped the Eagles and almost got a sack on Mcnabb on the 3 & 8. Dallas get the ball back on their own 49 yard line setting up a big 2o-yard run from Felix Jones but Romo got sacked and the second play of the drive. Dallas sticking to power football but couldn’t get a first down. The Eagles have more luck stopping Romo this time around, hopefully the Dallas defence can stop the Eagles and get the ball back. I hope that Romo can adjust to the late defencive movements of the Eagles and get better protection otherwise he will have a hard time making 3 and long completions.
The penalties keep stacking up on the Dallas Cowboys, many false starts as per usual. Dallas needs to play more disciplined and give Romo a break, not forcing him to make 3 and long completions.
Second quarter
First TD Dallas after getting a pass interference call putting them at the one yard line. I’m glad they didn’t try and run the ball this time after the bad luck they have had the last few weeks , making questionable 4 and 1 run calls.
WTF Vick burned the Cowboys bad…We didn’t see Vick last week and here’s why!!! Eagles saved him or was he still to hurt to play? Dallas needs to be ready for this
WTF AGAIN ROMO THROWS AN INTERCEPTION!!!
This isn’t looking good hope to god the Dallas can get the call reversed if not stop the Eagles. Dodged the bullet that time the call is reversed and the pass was ruled incomplete.
Dallas going back to power football, running it down the field on the Eagles. WTF almost a fumble again…Romo needs to make better plays and have better protections.
Finally Roy Williams are getting good gains and Witten stopped inside the one yard line setting up a Dallas TD run. Putting Dallas up in front again.
More Dallas penalties, 6 penalties for 60 yards so far for the Cowboys, but they still stop the Eagles and gets the ball back. And followed up with big plays for Miles Austin and Roy Williams to set up for more Dallas points. Just a field goal but its still points on the board. Philadelphia Eagles with Vick fumbles the hand off and Dallas recovers the ball in the red zone. With a Dallas TD now it will difficult for Eagles to bounce back with the Dallas Defence playing at such a high level.
Another Eagles fumble and Dallas recovers with only 51 seconds left in the second quarter. Eagles feel that they are starting to lose the game so tensions start flying, and results in a 15 yard penalty. A questionable pass interference call against the Eagles gives Cowboys a first down. Seven seconds left and a field goal attempt from the 48 yard line to make it 7 – 27 Dallas, and the kick is GOOD!
So what changes will the Eagles do in half time to try and keep up with the Dallas Cowboys? Dunno maybe play Vick more?!? but that’s a gamble as he hasn’t played much all year.
Third quarter
Both teams go 3 and out, and then the Dallas penalties start to pile up yet again but so does the Philadelphia penalties. Phialdelphia is putting together a good drive maybe they will put some points up and make this a game in the second half.
The pace has slowed down in second half, but the Eagles cant get the first down and is forced to punt the ball. Lets see what Dallas can do with the ball, I expect power football. Dallas keeps the drive moving, mixing up pass and run I expected more runs than passes but I guess Dallas wants to put more distance between them and the Eagles before they dial down the offence.
WOW a 73-yard TD run from number 28 FELIX JONES longest TD run in Cowboys playoff history!
DAMMIT losing the interception and the Eagles recovers it with good field position.
Mcnabb wants a flag and throws himself to the ground, and he rightly don’t get a penalty flag. But despite losing the interception Dallas stops a 4th & 3 attempt with a safety blitz. Mcnabb escaped the sack but the receiver couldn’t catch the pass for a first down.
Tony, Tony, Tony don’t run with the ball!!! Throw it away!!!
It appears that Marion Barber might be feeling the injury from last week, hope he will be available next week. And yes I’m predicting a Dallas post season victory for the first time since 1996. The final score will be 14 – 44 Dallas!
A good reception and run from Westbrook to close out the 3rd quarter. To little too late.
Fourth quarter
Starts off with a Dallas penalty, against Hamlin. Vick and Mcnabb in for the Eagles but it results in an incomplete pass. 3rd and goal after a Ware sack on Mcnabb. But a Dallas penalty make it first and goal instead of a 4th and goal.
TD for Eagles making it 14 – 34 and the last points the Eagles will score this game (at least in my prediction)
Dallas isn’t dialing down the offence at all, they keep mixing up pass, run and wildcat plays. Dallas keeps getting first downs to run the clock and keep the Eagles offence of the field. But Dallas have to finally punt after running the clock down quite a bit, WARE strips the ball and the Cowboys recover the lose ball with 3:54 left of the 4th quarter.
Dallas gets a break with a 3rd & 4 and continuing the drive, maybe the NBC first down line was off by a yard. 3:33 left with the Cowboys 1st & 10 at the 16 yard line. But more penalties push the Dallas back outside the red zone, Dallas content with just running out the clock. Running on both 2nd and 3rd down with almost 30 yards for the first down. Hmm Dallas punted instead of trying a loooong field goal, they don’t wanna give the Eagles a chance of getting any more points on the board.
14-34 was the final score Minnesota vs Dallas next week cant wait.
OK after a mathematical error im now 178-78 and one game behind Jeff Ellis and lots behind Steven Miranda from NFLRnR. But here are my picks for the Post Season.
Dallas
NY Jets
Still not sure if the Bengals can pull this off. they didn’t come to play last time they faced each other but can they overcome the mental aspects?
Patriots Ravens Patriots
Changed to the Ravens but after watching this I changed the pick back to Patriots.
Green Bay
Might change some of my picks later as I’m currently listening to NFLRnR the wildcard weekend preview show.

Its been snowing hard for the last day or so here so I had to dig out the car so it wasn’t completely covered in snow. The snow was powder so It actually weren’t as big a problem as I first thought which was good. As I was walking to a friends house to have dinner and watch football I decided to use my winter boots just in case there was a blizzard when I was heading home. But luckily the weather was good only minor downfall and not particularly cold. And Dallas Cowboys clinched a playoff spot so all is good, It wasn’t a well played match but the Cowboys won that all that matters. Now they need to beat the Eagles next week to win the division.
I have watched two Swedish produced crime shows called “Graven” and “Morden” both where really exiting and the actors and characters where all great.
The regular season is drawing to a close soon and the playoffs begin. The last few weeks my picks have been ridiculously bad and hopefully the last weeks will be better.
So its time for the week 16 picks, my record going into the 16th week is 156 – 67 156-68
UPDATE: This week 10- 6, overall 166-73 166-74

Indianapolis Colts @ Jacksonville Jaguars
I had the Jaguars winning the game and they where soooo close. I think they played as good as they have played all season and they had a bit of bad luck on some calls and situations. Jacksonville ran the ball on the Colts but Mannings passing game proved to much in the end for Jacksonville.
Dallas Cowboys @ New Orleans Saints
Dallas actually showed why they should have made it into the play-offs earlier in the season, I’m still hopeful they will get their first play-off win in quite a while. But I think they have the confident and have played down to the opposition, this week in New Orleans they showed a balanced team both on offence and defence. The Dallas defence played good physical and smart football, they kept Flozells penalties to a minimum. And It was good to see Ware back in the middle and putting some hits and pressure on Brees and making some good screen reads. And he get to make the game ending play bad neck and all, he deserves it!
Drew Brees really started to deliver in the 4th quarter putting up some big numbers and getting the very important first downs. Going down field on the Cowboys, and the Saints defence stopping Romo and the Cowboys on several possessions. The crowed noise really picked up in the 4th quarter as well, being silenced by the Cowboys fast start in the 1th quarter.
Dallas need to get their kicker Folk to start making the points as they have lost several games because of easy kicks that he has missed.
Comment after Folk missed the EASY field goal and the Saints got the ball back and threw and incomplete pass
“the saints wants a flag and the Dallas fans wants a new kicker”
damn straight!
Its good that the Cowboys won, cant wait for Steven Miranda’s reaction is this weeks NFLRnR’s podcast. So the cowboys win eliminates both Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons from the postseason. Hopefully both the Eagles and the Giants will lose this week, but that’s highly unlikely.
