Here are some pictures from this years Wheels in Umeå. It was a sunny and warm day, actually got a bit of a tan happening from being out in the sun. I will start using the gallery option in WordPress until I have decided if im going to pay for a bigger flickr account but probably not until I run out of space on this site, or if I decide to shut this down when I move.
I will start uploading more older pictures here as I have grown tired with Facebook and their substandard site, I rather host my own images than bothering with Facebook at the moment.
UPDATE: Added a few images to the Täfteåfestival post
I’m planning on adding a Starcraft II part to the site where I could upload some fun replays and such, maybe Ill make that a part of the forum I’m never using or just make it a login required part of the website. There are pros and cons with either design, its more fun doing a whole new design and maybe writing a bit of code, but using the php forum code and just adding a different section is easier and less time consuming.
Another thought is just to make a few games available on YouTube any maybe do some commentary, could be fun to try it out any-ways. Now to just find a good and free video recording software and a decent voice recording application. Im going to try Fraps and do some replay captures and see how that works, haven’t tried Fraps before so well see how that works.
UPDATE: This is going to wait becuase you will not be able to watch the old games with the new client, so I will not bother with setting up a SC2 part just yet.
After using a stats program to see if more than two people actually read the blog I found that the code slowed the forum access to a ridiculous slow pace so I decided to discontinue using I, as I really don’t care if people read it or not. And yes! at some points more than two people actually visit the blog, and actually clicked the links that I have put up.
Its actually awesome weather outside today and its a shame that I cant be outside doing things, but need to do boring and tedious inside things. I still haven’t gotten the JAVA code to work properly but the SQL things was correct and should have worked but the database where corrupt and didn’t work when trying to apply the code. I wish that they would update and maintain the databases so that you actually could do the assignments properly and not get stuck for days with correct code.
I haven’t been programming in a few years and now I’m brushing up on my knowledge and I find it hard and tedious. The only coding I have been doing in the last few years have been web oriented things like php and doing simple web things using CSS and really basic stuff. So im just going to write a simple java application to update a SQL database, but I need to use Ingres to create the database which coincidently I hate using i rather use a GUI like phpmysql or something like that to get the database up and running. Because I have only been using Mysql and similar things when running web forums and wikis for the last couple of years, but hopefully the little knowledge about Java and Ingres will come back to me during the upcoming week or else I’m in trouble.
On a side note I’m probably going to do some updates to the php webforum that I started with last year. I just need to get my scanner working again so I can scan the handouts for the different RPG scenarios and make them available online if the need arises for making use of the forum. But I need to get my flickr account sorted and make more pictures available and find a easy image editing software to edit the images with. As it stands now I only put up the images unedited and without much test and tags, but that Is on my to-do-list. I would like to start using more geotagging and tie-in google-maps. I also have stopped putting pictures up on Facebook and will as soon as my website is ready move all my images over to flickr or maybe host them myself, haven’t decided just yet. Need to scan lots of my older pictures and make them available online and I also have another project that I will be working on in my spare time, not that there is much of that available right now.
Ill start of with the tagging issues as they aren’t that interesting, but Ill write about it anyway. I’m going to start adding more tags to my posts and do some META tagging changes in the near future. The reason for this is to help me and you selected few readers to find thing that might interest you in my blogging. As I use this blog as my one and only blog I need to start putting more effort into the tags to make it easier to read and sort.

Due to friends recommending a show called Harper’s Island I have started to watch it and have so far seen the first three episodes and here are my initial thoughts about it. And as customary with these reviews or what you might call them there will be spoilers so if you haven’t seen it don’t read this.
The intro to the first episode was totally awesome and had me hooked from the start and wanting more. Given I like serial killer shows and movies and lighthouses and islands always makes for creepy and scary settings this show delivers. The big tree with the hanging bodies where a nice and scary image, this made me think about the two Swedish murder mysteries series called Graven and Morden. Then the actual show starts and I’m sorely disappointed with the whole boat scene it felt forced and not appealing, and the stereotypical characters where one dimensional, but the premise and overall feel of the show kept me watching. There is a plethora of C and D grade celebs/actors people you recognize but cant really place, or at least I had problems with it. Speaking of stereotypical characters ofc. the biggest douche in the first episodes is called Hunter that name screams douchbag, I just thought that funny.
Some questions I had when watching the first few episodes:
- Who left the candles on the Wakefield grave? why didn’t the characters find it odd, as the killer wasn’t even allowed to be buried on hallow ground?
- Why didn’t the Sheriff kill Wakefield was it his brother or something lame like that?
OK high level spoiler alert coming up, concerning people being killed. I find it sad that the emo/goth girl bought the farm in the second episode. I actually thought that character could have been fun to have around, given her high level paranoia and emo-ness, they could have killed the emo/goth brother instead as I didn’t find him that interesting. Why did they kill the priest, to stop the wedding or some other reason. I get the feeling that you could possibly have two killers on the island and possibly not all the murders are connected. Another thing that bothered me where the traps all over the island, they said that there where rumours of traps on the island but none until now have come across them. And now all of a sudden people run into traps all over the place.
Even though I wanted the emo-chick to live here death scene was very good, I like the touch with the eyes and the statue with the red gems for eyes and the picture the sheriff found. there are some really good and creepy scenes that are well directed and set up but then we cut back to the 90210 style acting and plots. I know probably that’s the point having big differences between things but I almost feels like they have two different directors or writer for the different style scenes.
OK that’s my initial thoughts about the first three episodes, I will do more of these style posts in the future as its fun to write them.
Im updating DB’s and messing around with CSS and other things so the blog will be constantly changing.
UPDATE: Need to make more massive changes to make all my pages work together. But the site is upgraded to 2.9.1 finally without loss of data which is good.
UPDATE: Need to sort out the CSS width, going to do that tomorrow and get some new images for the header.
